In this modern era, the internet has become a necessity for everyone. Almost all of our daily activities require internet access. For example, online shopping, ordering food through applications, ordering tickets, searching for information and much more. In other words, the internet has become part of community life. Plus, the ease of accessing it anywhere and anytime. Like when waiting in line at the hospital, while relaxing at home, or even while traveling using public transportation. We can easily access the internet using provider services to wifi which is provided for free, especially in public spaces. Like in hospitals, in city parks, or even on public transportation. When discussing the internet network for public transportation, especially in Indonesia, what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Is the network good or vice versa?

If we assess the quality of the network in public transportation in Indonesia, for example the KRL commuter line, it can be said that the network is not good. Why? Because according to the author’s experience when using the wifi provided on the Jabodetabek KRL, the wifi connection can indeed be connected but not the internet. I can’t access social media, search for information, or even send messages. So it seems that the existence of wifi in my opinion is not effective because its function does not work properly. This problem should be one of the things that needs to be considered so that public facilities like this can be utilized properly by KRL commuter line passengers.

If we ignore the problem of slow internet network according to an article published online by CNN Indonesia, internet speed in Indonesia is ranked fourth lowest out of 77 countries in the world. There are several factors that influence it. In the IDNTimes Jabar article, the geographical shape of Indonesia consisting of volcanoes, forests and islands is one of the factors. Not only that, Indonesian internet users who are ranked fifth also affect internet speed in Indonesia.

So, based on the data above, in my opinion the poor quality of the internet network in public facilities such as the KRL commuter line above, is influenced by Indonesia’s geographical location. However, this does not mean that the quality of the internet network in Indonesia will remain stagnant forever and will not change at all. In my opinion, there will definitely be changes and Indonesia can make changes in the future. It could be one to two years from now or soon, we can access the internet provided as a public facility smoothly, right?
